Considering Becoming A Health Coach?

Health and wellness is something I have been passionate about for as long as I can remember. I would use the money from my cafe job as a a teenager to buy Women's Health magazine and I first joined a gym when I was only 14 years old. Somewhere along the way I got wrapped up in thinking I needed a corporate job in order to be successful (and to please my grandmother), so this was the path I followed, instead of my real passion which was holistic health.

That was until March 2017, when I was led back to the Institute of Integrative Nutrition after receiving an email outlining their health coaching course. Later that month, I enrolled.

I've shared previously about why I became a health coach, and it is without a doubt the best decision I have ever made in my life. After many years of never really being excited about a chosen career path, I'd finally lit a fire in my belly and was able to help transform people's lives in the process.

I took on my first clients in October 2017 and within 6 months, whilst still completing the health coaching certification and working a full-time job, I had made $10k from my business on the side. Before I was really even ready to fully launch my business - it just happened! And, in April this year I took on my first corporate coaching client which means I've now more than paid back my tuition fees in revenue.

Throughout my studies, not only did I gain the knowledge to support my clients through transforming their dietary and lifestyle habits, I was also driven to make some huge shifts in my own life. These included: making an effort to source organic produce, switching to a mostly plant-based diet, transitioning to toxin-free skincare and makeup and upping my spirituality game in order to create the container for growth.

I'm so passionate about IIN that I've become an Ambassador!

The reason I'm sharing this with you now is that IIN are taking enrolments for the next Health Coach Training Program starting on 7th May 2018, with the following intake commencing July 2018. Payment plans are available and you can get started with as little as $49 (USD) down. If you enrol this week, you'll get a massive $1500 (USD) off your tuition fees, plus other epic bonuses!

You no doubt have a few questions about what health coaching is all about so I've answered some below. If you still have questions, feel free to email me, drop your question in the comments below or set up a free call so we can chat in person.

What is a health coach?

Great question. A health coach is your biggest ally in helping you achieve whatever health, wellness or lifestyle goals are on your heart. Many of us set goals every year, but we don't actually put in the action to achieve them, which is the most important part. And when we don't achieve the goal, we make up nasty stories about ourselves which become limiting beliefs that leak into other areas of our lives like our work and our relationships. A health coach will hold you accountable, and support you so you can kick those goals and shift your mindset for good. With coaching you don’t just get the information; you get the strategy and support you need to apply it to your life. So you take real action, create new healthy habits and get long-lasting results.

Institute of Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Program

What if I don't want to be a health coach?

Many who have studied the Health Coach Training Program have gone on to run successful health coaching practices, publish books, run blogs, appear on TV, but some have simply completed the course to gain a better understanding of health and wellness for the benefit of themselves and their families. It's up to you what you do with the knowledge, but changes are you'll want to share it!

Where do health coaches work?

Where would you like to work? The beauty of coaching is that you can do it from anywhere in the world as most sessions are on the phone or video calling. A great option as it gives you access to an international client base (my first client was based in Fiji!), you can work from anywhere in the world, and technology at your fingertips allows you to record the call to send to your client afterwards so they can replay the content when they need a refresher. Some health coaches work inside doctors offices, gyms, cruise ships and wellness centres.

Can you earn money from it?

Absolutely. Health coaches are in demand and can charge accordingly, particularly if you specialise in a niche market. Group coaching programs enable you to earn more, as you'll have several people in a program at once, which would take less time than 1:1 coaching. Many health coaches charge upwards of $120 per hour starting out.

What is the content like in the health coaching program?

You will cover over 100 different dietary theories taught by some incredible guest teachers like Deepak Chopra, Alicia Silverstone, Gabby Bernstein, Pete Evans and more. Check out the course syllabus

How long does the program take?

It's a year long program made up of 40 modules, with one new module being launched weekly. You do get breaks at the end of each semester. I studied while working full-time, and would average about 3-5 hours study per week which I broke up over a weeknight and the weekend. You get a mobile app with the program, so can easily watch some of the videos whilst getting ready for work, cooking dinner, cleaning up etc.

If this is something you are considering, I would be happy to jump on a call with you and chat further.. Just flick me an email

Ps. I do have affiliate links in this post, and if you do sign up with IIN I will earn a commission, but I would never put my name to something I didn't 150% endorse and trust, and hey, I like to think I provide a lot of value for free on my blog...
