MONDAY PEP TALK | 18 Empowered Health Choices You Can Make Today

It's become more important than ever to make health choices from a place of empowerment given that the world we live in is becoming increasingly more disempowered through the rise of social media promoting what wellness "should" be. Slimming teas. Waist trainers. Thigh gaps. Diet fads. Junk food sex. Restricting food. Hating our bodies.

Our world is teaching us to be marketing led rather than intuition led. It's a world that's teaching us to make health choices out of FEAR ("I'm exercising because I'm scared of gaining weight and not being loveable") rather than LOVE ("I'm exercising because I love the way the endorphins make me feel"). See the difference? Intention is everything. 


What are empowered health choices?



Empowered health choices are those that keep the power in your hands (vs disempowered which means giving your power away). They are intuition led. It's about making choices that are in full alignment with your values and your Truth, rather than what you feel you should be doing, out of fear.



Here are my TOP 18 empowered health choices:

  1. Get clear on what your INTENTION is with your health journey.

    Recognise what is ‘noise’ or social propaganda and what is your Truth. 

    • There’s two ways in which you can make choices in life: out of LOVE or out of FEAR.

    • If you are eating broccoli and chicken for every meal because you hate your body, you’re going to get vastly different results than if you are operating from a space of full love and trust. 

    • If you are running every day, but hating every step, you’re sending a signal to your body and your subconscious that it deserves to be punished. 


  2. Understand your RADICAL BLUEPRINT.

    • We’ve been so busy trying to FIT IN, that we have forgotten how to stand on our own two feet and make intuitive, empowered choices. Honour what is in ALIGNMENT for you and say no to anything that isn’t.


  3. Be guided by your INTUITION. 

    Trust that your body is your best barometer of overall health and happiness. 


  4. Eat INTUITIVELY.

    • Do you eat with the end in mind?

    • Are you conscious of and in control of the foods you put in your body?

    • Does the food you eat improve or worsen the other areas of your life?

    • Does your body reflect your highest ideals?

    • Is your body as strong and fit as you want it to be?

    • Are you healthier now than you were three months ago?
       

  5. Prioritise STRESS RELIEF.

    • Stress is the number one killer.

    • REST is a form of exercise. 

    • Stress = cortisol = weight gain

    • Stress = inflammation = disease


  6. Tune into your GUT and look after your GUT Health. 

    • A sick, inflamed gut increases our susceptibility to disease

    • Our guts have not evolved to be able to cope with today’s environment of stress, over-processed foods and over use of antibiotics.


  7. Disconnect to RECONNECT. Digital wellness.

    • We are too connected to social media and emails.

    • Lack of social connection is leading to loneliness. Loneliness is a bigger predictor of death than smoking a packet of cigarettes a day. 

    • Social media is selling us this false, misconstrued sense of what wellness is. With a focus on dramatically changing our appearance, buying gimmicks, unhealthy fads and comparing ourselves to Insta models who have airbrushed themselves.

    • It’s pulling us further away from our intuition and into this robotic, fad and fear-based wellness economy. 


  8. Prioritise COMMUNITY & REAL-ATIONSHIPS. 

    • Do you spend enough time nurturing the relationships that really matter?

    • Do you maintain toxic relationships that no longer serve you?

    • Are you authentic and honest in your relationships?


  9. Recognise that EVERYTHING is ENERGY. 

    • We literally become what we consume. Notice the thoughts you are entertaining while you are eating.

    • Rest and digest. 3 deep belly breaths before eating.


  10. Live in accordance with your MENSTRUAL CYCLE. 

    • We can tap into the most potent wisdom during menstruation. 

    • Rewrite your beliefs about menstruation. It’s not dirty, or annoying. It’s sacred; the thing that creates life. 

    • Ovulation - a time for birthing new ideas and socialising. 


  11. Prioritise JOY and CREATIVITY. 

    • When did you last experience true joy? What is stopping you from experiencing it more regularly?


  12. The best ‘wellness tools’ are FREE and readily available. 

    • Meditation. Nature. Sleep. Swimming. Water. Laughter. Play. Exercise. Sex. Affirmations. Journalling. Listening to music. Mirror work. Cold showers.


  13. Make use of ALTERNATIVE REMEDIES. 

    • Exercise your right to question allopathic doctors who over-prescribe.

    • IBS is not a diagnosis, it's a symptom.


  14. Know that your THOUGHTS & BELIEFS create your reality. 

    • You can literally make yourself sick with your thoughts. 

    • Practice gratitude daily. 

    • 95% of our behaviours are from our subconscious. It’s not actually conscious thoughts, decisions and behaviours that we are acting out every day.

    • Rewrite the subconscious through meditation


  15. Understand your SPIRITUAL health

    • What do you believe in? 

    • Do you feel you have a purpose? 

    • How much power do you have in designing your future?


  16. FORGIVE yourself. 

    • Unhealthy habits are self-worth based. 

    • There’s so much propaganda about SELF-LOVE, but we can’t practice self-love until we’ve practiced SELF-FORGIVENESS & SELF-ACCEPTANCE.

    • When we lack forgiveness we harbour resentment. We resent ourselves for not having the willpower to stick to our health goals. We shame ourselves for eating the donut and drinking the wine. We blame ourselves for missing F45 because our body desperately wanted to sleep in. And when we focus on our resentment; we create more things to feel resentful for.


  17. Recognise the STORY or BELIEFS you are telling yourself about your health journey. 

    Is is that “I’ll never be healthy”? “Eating healthy is hard”. “Eating healthy is expensive.” “I can’t meditate.”

  18. Respect your own TIME.

    • How much of your time do you feel in complete control of?

    • Is your time being wasted on things you don’t intrinsically enjoy?

    • Are the activities you spend your time doing moving you toward your ideal future?

    • Are you spending most of your time furthering your own agenda or someone else’s?

    • What activities should you remove from your life?

    • How much time do you waste each day?

    • What would your ideal day look like?

    • What activities could you outsource or automate that take up your time?

    • Until you organise your time, it will disappear and move quickly. Before you know it, you’ll wonder where all the time went.

    • Once you organise your time, it will slow down. You’ll be able to live more presently. You’ll be able to experience time as you want to. You’ll control your time rather than the other way around.
