Want a Career In Wellness?
MY IIN STORY
In March 2017 I enrolled in a program that changed my life, and that program was with Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN). After 10 months of learning from some of the best mentors in the world I graduated as a certified integrative nutrition health coach in January 2018.
When enrolled at IIN, I didn’t actually know that I wanted to become a coach, I just knew that I wanted to be doing something in the health & wellness field. I get asked a lot of questions about this journey, and I wanted to put this page together for you to inspire you to start your own journey. I’m an ambassador for IIN, which means I earn a referral fee for anyone who enrols in the program through me, so as a thank you, I offer my enrolees 2 free mentoring calls with me once they’re half way through the program PLUS, my Align Online e-course for free!

Here are the most commonly asked questions I get asked
How long was the course?
It took just under a year. It’s 40 modules long, with one new module every week (+ a few semester breaks).
What is your certification?
I’m a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Whilst coaching isn’t a certified industry, I would always encourage my friends and clients to seek out a coach who has done some form of study in the field.
How much time did you dedicate to studying?
I was working full time, 40 hours per week in a corporate job, so I dedicated about 2 hours during the week and 2 hours on the weekend to completing modules and exams.
Was it hard?
Yes and no. A lot of the content was very generic, and things I already knew. A lot of it was also really new to me. I passed all of my exams with flying colours.
Were there any requirements to receive your certification?
Yes. I was required to complete at least 6 health history (initial consultation sessions) with pro bono clients, and attend 4 out of 6 coaching circle live calls towards the end of the course.
When did you know you wanted to actually be a health coach?
I started to get really into personal development. IIN teaches a lot of spiritual, mindset related principles—not just nutrition. I flew LA and the Gold Coast to attend some transformational workshops and that is when I knew that I didn’t just want to focus on health, but rather emotional health, empowerment and vulnerability.
How much did the course cost?
I invested around NZD$6500 as I paid upfront. It’s slightly more if you payment plan. In saying that, IIN are always offering discounts and sales of up to $1500 off tuition. The best way to be notified about that is by signing up for the IIN curriculum guide which will put you on the mailing list to receive news of tuition specials. You can do that here.
What types of things did you learn?
It was so varied. There was a lot of modules specifically around health. IIN is the only nutrition school that teaches over 100 different dietary theories. (Ayurveda was the one that I really resonated with.) There was modules about disease and disease prevention, finances, how to coach, how to set up and structure your business, how to get clients—basically anything you need to learn to start a coaching business you will learn. Even if you’re not wanting to start a coaching business, there was so much useful information about how to inspire yourself and your loved ones to adopt healthy habits.
Would you recommend the course?
1000% yes, but I’d also recommend doing your own additional study too, in areas that you want to expand on.
Did you do assignments?
No, just quizzes, exams and health histories.
Did you feel well supported?
Yes! There’s a great Facebook group, plus when you get around to doing coaching circles, you are assigned a coach (former IIN student) and 8-10 IIN students to have weekly accountability & question/answer calls with. I’ve met several friends through IIN who have found me on Instagram!
What types of people do IIN?
Everyone! Men and women of all ages. My coaching circle was a variety of women between early twenties and late fifties. A lot of nurses, midwives, caregivers, naturopaths, mothers, physios, and burnt out corporates (me!).
